CommentsNice job with this one! Not only is it dark, but it also presents a brooding feeling, which I dig. The fractal seems a little too blurry, though. Maybe sharpening in a (gasp) image-editing program could help.
Overall, it's good. Keep at it. -- Former Admin of =Apophysis Co-Admin of *Tubaholics-Anonymous Currently listening to: Autechre - Windwind I like the colors on this one, but I think there are too many lines. It's sort of the same thing that bothers me about many Apo fractals, really. Too many little lines flying all over the place. Really need to push them back or eliminate them all together, otherwise they're just noise. Along the line of lines (hur), the big ones feel too patternistic and unvaried.
Sorry this one wasn't too positive. I do like the eyes, those are cool, especially if you don't notice them at first. The colors, also, are very nice. Keep on truckin'. :) I like this, it reminds me of a picasso painting.... <and i also love pink floyd>.... in some ways I agree about there being more 'lines' than necessary...... just the basic lines and shapes are so nice... so I'm on the fence. still and all I love the colors and shapes, its very picasso-ish to me.

hey, thanks for the critique, I appreciate the thought you put in it..
As for the lines, I actually added them myself (with extra squeezed linear transforms - about 6 of them), so they were intentional. Otherwise, the main forms didn't look clear enough. And I actually did the post-editing to up the contrast and make the lines a little more distinctive, since I thought they added to the overall chaotic feel of the piece (which I thought was necessary for the dark look I was going for). I'm normally a minimalist when it comes to fractals, but I thought the "noise" was necessary for the overall feel I was trying to convey with this one.. Glad you like the rest though, and again, thanks for taking the time to write a real critique, I really appreciate it -- bananas, anyone? Hey, glad you like it!
The lines are blurred because I made them by squeezing some linear transforms and they weren't perfect lines (a little thicker than they should've been), but I did that on purpose since otherwise they were too thin and sharp.. Perhaps I went too far with thickening them though.. I tried the sharpening thing in GIMP (since I doubt that I'll get a suggestion from you to postwork ever again Thanks for taking the time to comment! Really appreciate that -- bananas, anyone? glad you like it! The lines were, as I said in my reply to the previous comment, intentional to make the image more chaotic.. I'm still working with the same style though, and my upcoming works are very likely to be much more minimalistic and form-based (since that's what I usually do anyway).. Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it
-- bananas, anyone? well, the main forms are the result of a linear+waves+diamond combination, the lines are just linear transforms..
glad you like it, thank you -- bananas, anyone? |
